SET Review

What is a SET Review?

A SET Review is a formal process through which a school evaluates its current allocation of Special Education Teachers (SET) support and applies for adjustments based on the evolving care needs of its students.

Request a review of your SET allocation

Circular 0004/2025 (Primary) and 0005/2025 (Post-Primary) have been published by the Department of Education. Schools will have received their updated SET Allocations for the school year 2025/26 via email from the NCSE.

The Department of Education is cognisant that it is possible for unique circumstances to present in a school which could require an urgent review. In such circumstances, the school may apply for a SET Allocation Review through the NCSE School Portal. Schools should ensure that they have read the relevant Circulars 0004/2025 (Primary) 0005/2025 (Post -Primary) and the SET Review NCSE Guidelines before making an application. Completed Application forms can only be submitted through the NCSE Portal from the 28th of February.  NCSE will provide further details on how to submit an application. These details will be available on our website from the 28th of February 2025.

Submit your application for a SET Review through the NCSE School Portal. Ensure to attach the completed application form.

Submit your application for a SET Review

To submit an application,
– Login to the NCSE School Portal
– Create a New support ticket
– Select SET Review from the Type menu.
– Fill in all required fields
– Attach your completed Application Form
– Click Apply

Once this request is received, NCSE will contact you, either through the portal or by phone, within ten school days.
