They work for the NCSE and are organised into regional teams.

What is the role of an ISL Advisor?
ISL advisors have many varied tasks.
They work to helps schools to meet the needs of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing who mainly communicate through ISL.
They work in collaboration with all school staff including:
– All teachers especially ISL teachers and specialist classroom support teachers
– Special needs assistants
– The Board of Management
The ISL advisor will:
– Help to develop a whole-school approach to supporting students
– Provide a programme of professional learning for all members of the school community and support that community

More about the role of an ISL Advisor
The ISL advisor will develop the skills of
the school community in ISL to enable them to support students to:
– Achieve the best educational outcomes
– Have positive learner experiences
– Make progress in line with their abilities
ISL advisors can also support the school and other professionals in planning for student transitions from one education setting to the next.

– Log in to the NCSE School Portal
– Create a new support ticket
– Select Irish Sign Language Advisor Support from the type menu
– Fill in the required fields
– Click submit
