Special School Curriculum Support
Special School Curriculum Support
What is Special School Curriculum Support?
Special School Curriculum Support is a service designed to assist special schools in implementing national curricula at the primary level.
How can the NCSE help?
The NCSE supports special schools with the implementation of national curricula at primary level.
During the school year, 2024/25, all special schools will receive notification of a school closure day for Phase 2 (Support and Implementation) of the Primary Mathematics Curriculum, as outlined in Circular 0039/2023.
This school closure day will enable school leaders and teaching staff in special schools to participate in Teacher Professional Learning, facilitated by an NCSE Primary Curriculum Advisor. Please note: Special schools are not required to submit a ticket to apply for support for the Primary Mathematics Curriculum.
In addition, special schools may apply to NCSE for curriculum support, in relation to the following areas:
– Primary Language Curriculum
– Preparation for Teaching and Learning – Guidance for all Primary and Special Schools (2021)
– Primary Curriculum Framework (2023)
– Additional Support – Reference Circular 0028/2024 (Section 3.5.1)
Special schools may apply for curriculum support for whole staff, group and individual teachers through the NCSE School Portal.
